A woman standing outside in a forest smiling.

At Smilecology in Avondale, AZ, we provide expert care in new dental implant restorations that are designed to restore lost function and preserve oral aesthetics. You can lose one tooth or more, but dental implants are a long-term, natural solution allowing you to eat, speak, and live confidently.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small titanium posts surgically inserted into the jawbone to serve as replacement roots for missing teeth. After insertion, the posts integrate with the bone in osseointegration, giving crowns, bridges, or dentures a stable base. Implants function very similarly to teeth and are the most stable and permanent tooth-replacement solution.

Why Dental Implants?

Implants do bear some benefits over bridges or conventional dentures:

  1. Longevity: The implants are meant to last long. While bridges and dentures are to be replaced every 5–10 years, implants are a one-off investment in the event of good oral health and frequent dental checkups.
  2. Bone preservation: When one tooth is missing, the bone in the region can start to resorb because it is no longer stimulated. Implants maintain bone by functioning as the roots of your teeth, holding up your facial structure.
  3. Improved Function: Dentures aren't the same as implants when it comes to chewing. You can chew whatever you want—apples, nuts, steak—without Worry. They allow you to speak better with no slipping and clicking.
  4. Natural Appearance: The implants are designed to precise measurements so that they will be identical to your teeth. The crown or the prosthetic attached to the implant is color-matched to your smile so that it looks natural, boosting your overall looks and confidence.

The Smilecology Dental Implant Process

We take the time to offer a comprehensive, detailed method to ensure that each of our patients receives optimal care and results

Step 1: Consultation & Examination

Your treatment begins with a comprehensive consultation. Dr. Phan will examine your mouth condition, digitally X-ray it, and even 3D scan the architecture and density of your jawbone. We will discuss your expectations, review your health record, and determine whether you're a good implant candidate.

Step 2: Personalized Treatment Plan

Every smile is unique. We will customize our treatment to you—one implant, several implants, or a full arch of implant-supported dentures.

Step 3: Implant Placement

After creating the plan, the titanium implant posts are inserted in your jawbone under local anesthetic for your comfort. Precision-guided methods are used for the most accurate and proper placement and for the fastest healing rate.

Step 4: Osseointegration & Healing

Healing time varies but is usually 3–6 months. The implant stabilizes with the bone to provide a hard, stable base. During this period, temporary restoration or crowns can be delivered for function and aesthetics.

Step 5: Final Restoration

When the healing process is finished, a crown, bridge, or denture that appears to be your own is cemented over the implant post. All restorations are carefully designed to match your natural teeth in shape, size, and color, both functionally and cosmetically.
